Bisacc Learn · Course 1

Learn bookkeeping the South African way

Learn to keep a small South African business's books by hand. This course is based on the CAPS curriculum, but it is not an accredited course and doesn't lead to a formal qualification. You'll follow one business, Kleinbos Coffee Roasters, through three months of real-looking transactions: source documents, journals, the general ledger, the trial balance, reconciliations, year-end adjustments and the financial statements.

The case study

Kleinbos Coffee Roasters

Thandi Jacobs has just opened a small coffee roastery in Stellenbosch. You'll keep her books from her first day of trading on 01/12/2025 to her year end on 28/02/2026: every invoice, deposit, return and adjustment along the way.

Your guide

Meet Professor Bella Bisacc

Professor Bella has kept books for longer than she cares to admit. You'll come to know her as Prof B: she appears throughout the course with practical tips, a hint when you're stuck on an exercise, and a word of encouragement when you pass a quiz.

She won't do the work for you, but she will make sure you understand why each entry goes where it does.
